The absence of a free confidential police line has made it difficult and sometimes impossible to report crime by the public. Yet, crime reporting by the public is a crucial element of policing. As a matter of urgency, the South East should partner with the telephone companies to create a free confidential police number for the region. A free telephone access will greatly aid the busting of criminal gangs.
