Night economies and tourism generate a substantial amount of employment and income.

It is estimated that night economies generate upwards of half of the total number of employees who function during the day, while tourism also generates a significant amount of employment. The need to create employment and divest from a dependence on earnings from mineral resources towards a more sustainable tax economy has made it increasingly necessary for the South East to create an enabling environment for night economies and tourism to thrive.
